Most experienced political observers in Berlin expect the advent of the new federal government to give a considerable boost to businesses, especially in the regulated transport and energy markets. “The transformation of transport and energy and the decarbonisation of industry will soon be an intense preoccupation for legislators, legal departments and specialised law firms,” predicts Dr Anselm Grün. He is a partner at the commercial law firm Orth Kluth, which was recently named “Law Firm of the Year for Regulated Industries” by the Juve Award 2021.
“Law Firm of the Year for Regulated Industries”
At the heart of the accolade is the successful work of Orth Kluth’s Mobility team.As well as handling conventional regulatory and public procurement law issues, especially in the transport sector, the lawyers in Düsseldorf and Berlin deal with cases relating to the transport transition, electric vehicles and alternative mobility providers, as well as new forms of mobility and digitalisation, and also with clients in the traditional public transport, local passenger rail and rail freight transport sectors. The team is regularly assisted by colleagues from the fields of labour, commercial, corporate, data protection and IT law, environmental and planning law, and financing. The firm is listed as one of the leading law firms in the national JUVE handbook.
The Mobility Team is led by Grün and his colleague Dr Michael Sitsen and has recently been approached and mandated more and more frequently to help firms manage and respond internally to relevant changes in the legal framework. They both advise companies and public administrations in the highly regulated sectors of transport and energy to follow developments very closely at this time. “We expect significant changes, even in the short term.”
Prepared for upheavals in the markets
“We too at Team Mobility have prepared ourselves for the many forthcoming challenges caused by the transport and energy transition and have prepared our capacities accordingly,” reports Michael Sitsen. “We now bring together under one roof experienced experts in every relevant field of law. This means we can offer smooth crossovers between environmental and planning law, labour law, financing and subsidy law, public procurement and public law, as well as the contract law that governs IT, supply, R&D and other agreements. So we can offer practically everything to our clients.” Orth Kluth’s Mobility team consists of Alexander Falk, Dominique Faßbender, Dr Anselm Grün, Dr Christiane Hoffbauer, Boris Körner, Dr Bastian Mehle, Maria Najdenova, Dr Nils Neumann, Professor Dr Patrick Ostendorf, Dieter Posch, Dr Michael Sitsen, Dr Dominika Stachurski and Dr Frank Wältermann.
