The commercial law firm Orth Kluth has advised BP Teamcoaching GmbH in connection with its investment in the Danish soccer club Aalborg BK. The acquisition of an approximately 20 percent stake in the Danish first division soccer club was carried out together with other investors via Sports Strategy Excellence 22 GmbH Co. KG, which also includes Thomas Hitzlsperger and Joachim Hilke. The purchase price was around EUR 2 million.

BP Teamcoaching GmbH, based in Hamburg, supports clubs, associations and individuals in expanding their sporting competence levels. Together with the company’s partners, strategic, innovative and holistic projects in the sports environment are supported. The focus is on medium-term concepts that create long-term value. This is achieved, among other things, by supporting senior managers. The company advises in accordance with the mission statement and principles of Bernhard Peters, the two-time field hockey world champion and former Director of Sport at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and HSV. Investors include former national soccer player and former managing director of VfB Stuttgart Thomas Hitzlsperger and former HSV board member Joachim Hilke.

The soccer club Aalborg Boldspilklub (AaB) from North Jutland, Denmark was founded in 1885. The club is a four-time Danish champion and three-time national cup winner. AaB is currently fighting against relegation from the first Danish league, the Superliga.

The acquisition of shares goes hand in hand with a more extensive financing round in which local existing investors and new investors are financing a further EUR 6 million in order to promote the long-term and sustainable growth of the club, including through the expansion of the club’s own training academy.
